Manila, Philippines –Jaycee and Jayvee Marcelino doubled the trouble at the start of the second round of the NCAA Season 94 men’s basketball tournament as Lyceum of the Philippines University whipped San Sebastian College-Recoletos, 88-70, on Tuesday at the Filoil Flying V Center in San Juan.
Jaycee had 17 points, six rebounds, three assists and two steals, while his twin brother Jayvee chipped in 14 points, six assists, four rebounds and two steals.
RK Ilagan, who just came back from suspension, shot a corner triple in the last seven minutes of the game to get the Pirates within reach, 64-69.
However, the Marcelino brothers made back-to-back layups that stretched the Pirates’ lead to 11, 75-64, six minutes left.
The Pirates never looked back as reigning MVP CJ Perez did his magic and capped off their 10th consecutive win in the season.
Perez was shy of a double-double record with 21 points and nine rebounds along with five steals.
CJ Perez led the way for the Pirates, who swept the first round and stayed unblemished at 10-0
On the other hand, veteran Michael Calisaan had his own double-double record of 17 points, 11 rebounds and two steals. Ilagan chipped in 13 points, but it was not enough to stop the Stags from falling below the standings with a 1-9 slate.
