Manila, Philippines – Colegio de San Juan De Letran kept their final four hold stronger after defeating Emilio Aguinaldo College, 91-82, in the NCAA Season 94 men’s basketball tournament on Tuesday at the Filoil Flying V Center in San Juan.
The Knights remains on third spot in the tournament with a 9-4 record, only one game ahead of College of St. Benilde, while the Generals dropped to a 2-11 win-loss record.
Letran had a tough time shaking off EAC in the first half as they banked on a four-point advantage.
However, they managed to find their groove in the third quarter with JP Calvo leading them with seven consecutive shots that left the Generals breathing for air.
Calvo boosted the Knights for a 7-0 run that eventually expanded their lead to as much as 31 points – also outscoring EAC who only had 22.
Fran Yu took his turn and made four consecutive shots for an 8-0 run at the start of the payoff period that gave Letran a 75-56 lead.
The Generals took a late run with Jerome Garcia at the forefront for a 14-1 rally, 70-76.
Larry Muyang sparked an 8-0 run with the help of Jeremiah Taladua for an 83-72 lead, which led them to eventually seal the win.
Jeremiah Taladua and Nico Galvelo had 15 points each, while Yu added 13 markers.
On the other hand, Garcia led the Generals with 20 points and Hamadou Laminou chipped in a double-double record of 16 points and 11 rebounds.
