De La Salle University Lady Spikers extended their winning streak to nine after getting the better of the Far Eastern University Lady Tamaraws, 30-28, 25-12, 28-26, in the UAAP Season 85 women’s volleyball tournament, Wednesday, at the SM Mall of Asia Arena.

After a surprising 5-0 start, FEU maintained the lead until the latter part of the first set, 24-21. However, the composure of La Salle showed when Thea Gagate and Jolina dela Cruz joined forces to force a deuce.

The Lady Tamaraws and Lady Spikers exchanged points until Angel Canino rotated in the frontline where she unleashed two back-to-back attacks to complete the comeback.

In the third frame, FEU was already at set point 25-24, but a well-placed shot from dela Cruz forced another deadlock down the stretch. dela Cruz fired another one from the opposite to steal the lead then an unfortunate attack error from FEU sealed the win for the Lady Spikers.

Angel Canino led La Salle with 16 points all on attacks. While Jolina dela Cruz and Thea Gagate chipped in 13 and 11 points, respectively.

La Salle is now assured of at least a playoff spot in the Final Four with nine wins.

Meanwhile, Chennie Tagaod topscored for FEU with 13 markers, while rookie Alyzza Devosora finished with 10.
