Adamson University cut short University of the East’s winning streak as they defeat the Red Warriors, 66-57, Wednesday in the UAAP Season 80 men’s basketball tournament at the Mall of Asia Arena.
With the win, the Soaring Falcons lift their card to 6-3, which places them solo third, while the Red Warriors two-game winning streak ended as they dropped to a 2-7 record.
Jerrick Ahanmisi, who was limited to just six points against Ateneo, led Adamson with 14 points and two steals after he capped off a 19-7 run that gave Adamson a 64-55 lead.
“It was not an easy game for us. We struggled, because UE is on a streak and they really played well. They’re not the UE team that we played during the first round. At least, the team stayed within the course,” said Adamson coach Franz Pumaren.
Four minutes left in the game, Sean Manganti knocked down a booming triple that put the Red Warriors struggling to keep up in the game. Manganti later on capped off the game.
Papi Sarr had a double-double record of 12 points and 15 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Alvin Pasaol, who averages 30.67 points, was limited to 22 points and 12 boards, while Mark Olayon chipped in 16 points.
