After a heartbreaking loss against UE a few days ago, defending champs La Salle bounces back in a huge 68-56 win over the NU Bulldogs.
Despite not getting big numbers from Jeron Teng, the Green Archers still managed to seal the deal as they showed their championship composure and experience over the depleted Bulldogs squad.
NU has played well in the first half but seemed to fall short entering the 2nd half when guys like Almond Vosotros and the DLSU frontline started to sizzle on both ends.
Vosotros led the scoring for the green gang with 15 points. Arnold Van Opstal chipped-in with 14 points and 6 rebounds. While big man Norbert Torres and Jeron Teng got themselves 13 and 9 markers respectively.
Veteran point guard Gelo Alolino topped the score sheets with 18 points. Troy Rosario also led the Bulldogs with 14 points of his own.
DLSU will now face FEU in the Final Four. They will first have a playoff for the 2nd spot with the winner getting twice-to-beat advantage. Thus, making their series a virtual best-of-three.
NU will have to wait for the winner of the UE-UST game on Wednesday to know their place in the playoffs. If UE wins, NU will have to face the Red Warriors in a playoff for the 4th spot. If UST wins, NU will place 4th and will face Ateneo in the Final Four.
The scores:
DLSU (68) — Vosotros 15, Van Opstal 14, N. Torres 13, Teng 9, Perkins 8, Montalbo 5, Sargent 4, Rivero 0, Bolick 0, Mustre 0, Tratter 0.
NU (56) — Alolino 18, Rosario 14, Javelona 8, Aroga 8, Khobuntin 4, Betayene 4, Diputado 0, Celda 0, Neypes 0, Perez 0.
