Manila, Philippines – The College of St. Benilde came through the clutch to defeat University of Perpetual Help, 84-77, in the NCAA Season 94 senior’s basketball tournament on Friday at the Filoil Flying V Center in San Juan.

Rookie Jimboy Pasturan, who was a former player of Adamson University, sank in the vital shots needed to ignite the fire burning among the Blazers and eventually led them to seal their sixth win against three losses.

The Blazers had everything under control until the Altas surged in the fourth quarter that turned the game to their side, 65-62.

Pasturan saw what needed to be done and sank in back-to-back triples for the Blazers that gave them back the advantage and even boosted the team for a 13-2 run and claimed a 75-65 lead.

Edward Dixon got ejected from the game due to his second unsportsmanlike foul. Perpetual grabbed the opportunity and shot seven consecutive points to close in with the Blazers.

However, Pasturan shot another trey and a couple of freebies along with Yankie Haruna’s own free throws that eventually led them to seal the win.

Pasturan had 13 points and four rebounds, while Justin Gutang finished with a double-double record of 20 points and 13 boards. Haruna added another 20 for the win.

Prince Eze led Perpetual with 24 points and 12 rebounds, while Kim Aurin chipped in 23 markers in the losing effort as Perpetual dropped to a 5-3 slate and fifth place in the tournament.
