THE Green Archers clinched their second win in the UAAP men’s basketball tournament, after defeating UP Maroons, 89-71 on Saturday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Ben Mbala led DLSU, after his unsurmountable 30-points and 14 rebounds play. His defense was also unquestionable, after blocking two shots from UP.
La Salle supporters cheered loudly, as Mbala showed off an alley-oop dunk from Thomas Torres. And when UP turned the ball over, Mbala had another chance to put another slam in the rim.
The Archers are now on top of the UAAP basketball tournament with a 2-0 standing.
Despite leading the game with as much as 28-points, DLSU Coach Aldin Ayo pointed out that the Archers needed to practice their offensive plays and their finish much better for their next games.
Abu Tratter and Jeron Teng gave away 12 points for the Green Archers. While Jollo Go added another 11 points.
UP Fighting Maroons faced off their second devastating loss in the season after losing from ADAMSON last week.
Paul Desiderio led the team once again with 21 points. Jett Manuel added 13 points to the Maroons while Harris and Diego Dario contributed 8 points.
