Still clinging to their final four hopes, the currently fifth seeded Adamson University Lady Falcons earned a heavily-needed win over the skidding National University Lady Bulldogs, 25-19, 25-15, 18-25, 25-13 in UAAP Women’s Volleyball, Wednesday, at FilOil Flying-V Arena in San Juan City.

Knowing full well that they had to win this match, Adamson was able to dominate NU in all the departments, out-spiking the erstwhile best attacking team, 43 to 38.

With a 2-0 advantage, however, the Lady Falcons lost control in the third set and committed 13 unforced errors, giving away the momentum and confidence to the Lady Bulldogs.

Adamson quickly recovered in the fourth frame, starting the set with an emphatic block on Jaja Santiago. They established a 16-10 lead right away, but with Jaja in the backline, NU had a hard time scoring as all their attacks were answered by the strong floor defense of the Lady Falcons. The Lady Bulldogs saw themselves crumbling after a 9-3 run by Adamson to seal their fifth win.

The trio of Jema Galanza, Joy Dacoron, and Mylene Paat did the job for the Lady Falcons, all of whom scored in double-figures. It was made possible by the good distribution of the veteran setter Fen Emnas who dished out 35 excellent sets and provided four bonus points.

The effort of Jaja Santiago who scored 21 points was in vain as NU absorbed their third straight loss to start the second round of eliminations.

Player of the Game: Fen Emnas, 35 excellent sets
