The stage is set for the inaugural edition of the PRURide Virtual Challenge on Pulse, which is the online counterpart of the country’s biggest cycling festival that is set to kick off this month.
With the physical event not being held owing to the coronavirus pandemic, the PRURidePH organizers are hoping to reach its enthusiasts to continue its passion for cycling.
In its statement, PruLife senior VP and marketing chief Allan Tumbaga says that “These challenging times have highlighted the benefits of cycling. Not only is the activity an antidote to our mostly sedentary lifestyle, but it is also an ideal mode of transportation that promotes social distancing.”
The use of modern technology will be the centrepiece of the virtual challenge, as PruRide PH partners with Garmin to track the performances of the participants who had the Pulse app on their smartphones.
“It will be fun and challenging,” Tumbaga said when he graced the latest online edition of the Philippine Sportswriters’ Association Forum
Apart from the prizes ranging from the casual to the competitive, it will be a star-studded event wherein celebrity endorsers such as Gretchen Ho and Kim Atienza expecting to participate, wherein they will be joined by the returning cyclists who took part in both the PRURide PH and Prudential RideLondon.
Hoping to stay true to its word on its “We Do Health” advocacy, it hopes that the event will draw more participants whenever they are as it aims for its inclusiveness.
“Unlike before when the event was limited to the Clark area, cyclists can join this year’s event from anywhere in the country, whether they are from Aparri or Jolo,” he then said.
“PRURide PH has always been an inclusive festival for all cyclists, from beginners to professionals.
In addition to providing our participants with an extraordinary cycling experience, we also want Filipinos to have an opportunity to have fun even amid tough circumstances. Cycling is an excellent way to start building holistic wellness management and healthy habits.”
