Alaska Fortified Ironman invites children in the last leg of Virtual Run

Alaska Fortified IRONKIDS encouraged children to take part in the last leg of their Virtual Run this October in order to stay fit amidst COVID-19 quarantine.

With the restrictions brought about by the Coronavirus pandemic, Alaska IRONKIDS Philippines went virtual as an alternative to the usual outdoor activities, creating IRONKIDS Virtual Run.

Said Virtual Run is an all-digital running program as a part of their Keep Fit at Home series launched by IRONMAN organizers, Sunrise Events, INC.

Alaska Fortified has been airing weekly Video On Demand webisode in their Facebook and YouTube pages in order to help participant prepare for their virtual run.

“The purpose of these webisodes is to support kids with their strength and muscle development even while in quarantine,” Filipino Ironwoman and Alaska Fortified IRONKIDS Director Ani de Leon-Brown explained.

“With the help of regular exercise together with our Gatas for Breakfast, our IRONKIDS become equipped to take on the virtual run challenge and achieve their fitness goals.”

De Leon-Brown took charge of teaching morning exercises last October 3 and will return next weekend while Australian global triathlon champion Sam Betten handled run training last weekend.

“Running takes an immense amount of discipline… With focus, consistent exercise and, of course, proper nutrition, I am confident that our IRONKIDS will reach their goals,” says Betten.

Pinoy Triathlon Champ August Benedicto and another Australian global triathlon champion Dimity Lee Duke were some of the anchors in previous webisodes.

Alaska Milk Corporation Managing Director Harvey Uong was surprised with the public’s feedback on their event in the new normal.

“The response from the public has been overhwelming and we are grateful for parents who continue to encourage their children to keep fit even during the pandemic,” said Uong.

“This motivates us to further strengthen our commitment to providing nutrition to kids with the support of an active lifestyle platform like IRONKIDS.”

The virtual run which started early in August will have its remaining legs on October 17-18 and interested participants may register thru www.ironkidsphil.com.
