The University of the Visayas (UV) scored a twinkill as its college and secondary teams pulled off lopsided victories in the 2019 Cesafi basketball tournament at the Cebu Coliseum on Thursday, September 20.
The Baby Lancers first pounded the Southern Philippines Foundation (USPF) as they defeated the Baby Panthers, 96- 69, before the Green Lancers nailed a resounding 105-65 victory over the Cebu Institute of Technology-University (CIT-U) Wildcats.
The Green Lancers bagged their second win in three games, while the Wildcats slumped to their third loss in as many games.
CIT-U was still in the game early in the third period, 41-44, but UV unleashed its might by uncorking a dizzying 31-6 attack to erect a mammoth 75-47 lead.
The Green Lancers cruised from that point on to seal the whopping 40-point win.
UV’s foreign student-athlete Lass Coulibally was superb in both ends of the floor as he finished with 23 points and 15 rebounds. Jancork Cabahug and Gileant Delator added 16 points each, while Melvin Butohan added 10.
Jemcerson Sable paced CIT-U with 14 points.
Albert Sacayan, on the other hand, powered the Baby Lancers to their second win in three matches by firing a huge 36 points.
Sacayan was extra hot from the three-point area and finished with nine triples.
Fritz Bauzon backed Sacayan with 18 points, while Samuel Melicor and Christian Alilin added 14 and 10, respectively.
Christopher Isabelo talled 14 points for USPF, which dropped to 2-1 (win-loss).
