The University of Sto. Tomas Lady Tigresses are back in the winning column after a dominant sweep over the skidding Adamson University Lady Falcons, 25-15, 25-12, 25-16, in the UAAP Season 81 women’s volleyball tournament, Wednesday at the FilOil Flying-V Arena in San Juan.

UST did not waste any time and frustrated Adamson from the get-go, creating a wide separation early in the first set, 17-11. The Lady Tigresses maintained the lead until Caitlyn Viray and Eya Laure pocketed the first set with back-to-back hits.

The Lady Falcons momentarily had the advantage in the second set, 6-3, but UST responded right awaywith four consecutive points to snatch the momentum. After heading to the first technical time-out, the Lady Tigresses never looked back and eventually dumped Adamson for their sixth win this season.

UST displayed their attacking prowess as they unleashed 48 attacks in just four sets compared to the 18 of Adamson, proving why they are the league-leading best attacking team.

Eya Laure was the top scorer for UST with 17 points. But it was the support from Caitlyn Viray and Dimdim Pacres that highlighted the match who scored 14 and 12 markers, respectively.

Joy Dacoron led Adamson with 8 points as team captain Eli Soyud only played in the first set with two points.

UST will face a crucial match against the defending champions La Salle in their next game.
