The University of the East Lady Warriors registered their best record yet in the elimination round in recent memory after a straight-set victory over the Adamson University Lady Falcons, 25-14, 25-19, 25-22, in the UAAP Season 81 women’s volleyball tournament, Saturday at the Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City.
It was the Lady Warriors’ third victory this season as they successfully exceeded their erstwhile best record of just two wins last year to strengthen their goal of escaping from the eighth spot.
UE convincingly wonthe first two sets, letting the Lady Falcons struggle with their own unforced errors. But they faced a resistant Adamson team in the third frame as they attempted to extend the game after tying the game at 20-all.
However, the untimely errors got the better of the Lady Falcons as Chiara Permentilla committed a net touch. The Lady Warriors took advantage and pulled off a 5-2 run to seal their third victory and their first straight-set win this season.
Seniors Me-an Mendrez and Roselle Baliton led UE with 15 and 14 points, respectively, while Judith Abil was not far behind with 11 markers to go with 18 excellent digs and 19 excellent receptions. Graduating libero Kat Arado also dished out 33 excellent digs for the Lady Warriors.
Bern Flora was the lone bright spot for Adamson with 10 points on top of 15 excellent digs and 15 excellent receptions as they suffered their eleventh loss this season for a 1-11 win-loss card.
