FAR Eastern University proved that they are the reigning champions for a reason after earning their first win against Adamson, 75-65 in the UAAP Men’s Basketball tournament on Sunday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
The Tamaraws spent no time to chill and bounced back from their devastating loss against LaSalle. With a 1-1 win-loss record, they are now tied with the Falcons.
Adamson led the game in the first quarter, 14-13 as FEU seemed to be adjusting with their opponent’s game plan, but soon quick to read AdU’s tactics and retorted with multiple inside shots.
FEU started to lead off in the second, slowly inching to a 10-point lead.
Richard Escoto and Axel Inigo led the Tamaraws with 13 points each. Raymar Jose added his 11 points and had 12 rebounds.
FEU Coach Nash Racela admitted that it was a hard win for the Tamaraws.
“Adamson is a good team to play against with. We just did well defensively and was able to guard their best players inside the court,” he added.
Meanwhile, AdU’s standout Jerrick Ahanmisi still scored a double, finishing with 19 points.
