San Miguel Beermen cruised to their third straight with a 122-102 trashing of Terrafirma Dyip on Friday night in the 47th PBA Governors’ Cup at the Ynares Center in Antipolo City.
Cameron Clark came up with his highest scoring game so far, firing a game-high 31 points as the Beermen tied the Converge FiberXers at the top spot of the team standings with identical 3-0 (win-loss) cards.
Clark came into the match averaging just 21.5 points but was extra hot against Terrafirma, helping the Beermen lead by as many as 22 points in the one-sided duel.
Dyip actually threatened within 77-84 in the third period but Clark nailed back-to-back baskets that restored an 88-77 San Miguel lead.
The Beermen were never threatened after that.
June Mar Fajardo was limited to just six points but CJ Perez, Mo Tautuaa, Marcio Lassiter and Allyn Bulanadi provided the needed production from the locals after they combined for 63 points.
Perez tallied 20 points, 11 rebounds and six assists, Bulanadi added 14 points, Tautuaa chipped in 17 points while Lassiter had 12 markers.
Jordan Williams scored 30 points for Terrafirma, which fell to 1-2.
In the second game, the TNT Tropang Giga bounced back from a sorry loss the last time out as they downed the struggling Magnolia Hotshots, 93-85.
RR Pogoy paced the Tropa with 20 points, while Jalen Hudson, Mikee Williams and Calvin Oftana added 14 each for the Hotshots, which recovered from their 108-110 loss to the NLEX Road Warriors to improve to 2-1.
Eric Mccree finished with 12 points and 16 rebounds for the Hotshots, who stayed winless after two starts.
