Manila, Philippines – Defending champions San Beda University wasted no time clinching their fourth straight win against Mapua University, 88-70, Friday in the NCAA Season 94 senior’s basketball tournament at Filoil Flying V Center in San Juan
Graduating players Robert Bolick and Javee Mocon led their pack and scored 30 points in the first quarter, picking up a 13-point lead against the Cardinals.
But Mapua was quick on their feet and fought back in the second quarter, making a run to cut the deficit to four points, 42-46.
The Red Lions saw what needed to be done and gained back their momentum coming into the third. With Mocon on the frontline, he scored 12 big points to pave off the Cardinals and boost San Beda seal the win.
Mocon had a double-double record of 22 points and 16 rebounds, while Donald Tankoua added 17 points and seven boards.
Bolick chipped in 11 points, eight assists and four boards for their fourth consecutive win as they inched closer to top-seeded Lyceum of the Philippines, who has a 5-0 win-loss record.
Meanwhile, Warren Bonifacio also had a double-double record of 19 points and 12 rebounds, while Pelayo added 15 points. But their efforts was put to waste as they gained their third loss in the season.
