The San Beda Red Lions continued to pounce through the NCAA Season 93 men’s basketball tournament, as they tear the Saint Benilde Blazers, 72-58 on Tuesday, claiming their eight straight win at the Filoil Flying V Centre in San Juan.
San Beda already have a comfortable lead with only 2:28 left to play, when Robert Bolick attempted to drive a fastbreak against Carlo Young and Unique Naboa. Young took down Bolick as an attempt to block the senior by grabbing his right shoulder that led the two players falling down to the ground.
With the intensity of the match, things escalated fast as Young’s action was called a disqualifying foul, while Bolick was ejected from the game.
The officials deemed that Bolick threw a closed fist during the scuffle. Bolick and Young were thrown out of the game, while Clint Doliguez was also thrown out after he entered the playing court to separate the two from the melee.
Coach Boyet Fernandez expressed his disappointment with the officials.
“San mo makikita na closed fist yun? Tignan mo yung replay!” said Fernandez, who just continues to hope that the commissioner will see it.
Bolick led San Beda with a double-double of 14 points, 11 assists and seven rebounds before getting ejected, while Davon Potts had 12 points, four rebounds and two steals. JaveeMocon added 10 points and 10 rebounds.
On the other hand, Clement Leutcheu paced the Saint Benilde Blazers with a game-high double-double record of 25 points and 15 rebounds.
San Beda will face Mapua on Friday, while Saint Benilde will take on Lyceum on the same day.
