Manila, Philippines – Defending champions San Beda University clinches the second twice-to-beat edge after ousting Arellano University, 90-52, in the NCAA Season 94 men’s basketball tournament on Thursday at the Filoil Flying V Center in San Juan.
It took San Beda only 10 minutes of the game to dominate over the hapless Arellano.
The Red Lions were up by seven in the first quarter, 22-15, which created the much-needed cushion against the Chiefs. San Beda outscored Arellano in the second quarter, 16-8, with their lead stretched up to 15 points, 38-23.
Arellano can no longer contain the Red Lions until the payoff period as San Beda ended the game with a 38-point lead, 90-52.
Javee Mocon paved the way with a double-double record of 24 points and 11 rebounds, while Robert Bolick added 11 markers, nine assists and five rebounds.
San Beda earned their ninth straight win in the tournament and gave them, once again, the twice-to-beat advantage, along with their rival Lyceum University of the Philippines.
