San Beda College Red Lions bagged its first winning streak in the NCAA Season 93 men’s basketball tournament at the loss of the Emilio Aguinaldo College Generals, 81-69, Friday at the FilOil Flying V Centre.

The Red Lions now claims solo second in the standing with a 3-1 win-loss record, while the Generals dropped to 1-2 after losing their second straight match.

Despite the win, two-time NCAA champion coach Boyet Fernandez said that he hopes that the roaring squad would not repeat the same performance against Letran on Tuesday, after San Beda only turned up their game in the third quarter, ending the first half with only a six-point lead.

“Letran’s a very good team and EAC is also a very good team, but we just have to really play our game from the start to finish,” said Fernandez.

EAC took a blow when Francis Munsayac sprained his right ankle after stepping on Javee Mocon, 3:12 minutes remaining.

Munsayac led the Generals with 21 points before leaving the game and hopes that he could play on their game against Mapua on Tuesday. Jerome Garcia added 16 points, five rebounds and five assists.

Jomari Presbitero finally left the shadows of Clint Doliguez and Robert Bolick and emerged with his personal best in the game with 16 points, three assists and two steals, which led the Red Lions in the game, while Hamadou Laminou was limited to 13 points.

Cameroonian Donald Tankoua added an almost double-double record with 12 points and nine rebounds, while Bolick fired up with 10 points, nine boards and five assists. Mocon also had 10 points.

San Beda will face archrival Letran on Tuesday.
