The University of Sto. Tomas Lady Tigresses made quick work of the University of the East Lady Warriors for their first victory of the season with a straight sets win, 25-17, 25-15, 25-21, in UAAP Season 80 Women’s Volleyball, Wednesday, at the FilOil Flying V Arena in San Juan City.
It was once again Sisi Rondina who did most of the damage all throughout the game, with her usual attacking prowess that was left unmatched.
The first two sets were convincingly won by UST, but they sort of relaxed in the third frame, allowing the Lady Warriors to catch up.
Just like in their match against UP, UE tried to stage a comeback and took the lead momentarily, 12-10. But the Lady Tigresses knew better and went on with their own run to steal the lead and seal the game in their pockets.
Rondina led all scorers with 20 points. She needed help, though, as the rookie Milena Alessandrini only had 6 points.
Former UE team captain Shaya Adorador was still nowhere to be found in this matchas she tallied just 2 points, far from her usual double-digit output.
