The University of Sto. Tomas Lady Tigresses tallied their first win in the second round with a four-set victory over the University of the Philippines Lady Maroons, 19-25, 30-28, 25-20, 25-16 in UAAP Women’s Volleyball, Saturday, at FilOil Flying-V Arena in San Juan City.

After losing the opening frame, UST fought back in the second as they established a 21-19 lead. They momentarily lost the lead with a 3-0 run by UP, but Milena Alessandrini came alive and brought the Lady Tigresses to set point.

UP threatened to seal the set with clutch hits from Tots Carlos and Isa Molde, but Sisi Rondina and Milena Alessandrini responded right away to save several set points for the Lady Maroons to keep them alive. Finally, an unanswered attack from UST followed by an error by Molde gave the set in favor of the Lady Tigresses.

With their momentum on their side, UST never looked back and dominated the Lady Maroons in the next two sets. Rondina and Alessandrini were all over the court for the Lady Tigresses, including the game-clinching through-the-block hit by the rookie.

Sisi Rondina solidified her MVP bid with another triple-double performance built on 24 attacks, 13 excellent digs, and 13 excellent receptions. She had a much-needed support from the recovering Milena Alessandrini who tallied her season-high 20 points, making her presence felt in both offense (14 attacks) and defense (team-high 6 blocks).

Tots Carlos carried the Diliman-based squad with 24 points alongside the 18 markers of Isa Molde.

Player of the Game: SisiRondina, 25 points (24 attacks and 1 service ace)
