It’s not all the time that underprivileged kids get to learn football from the most storied franchise in La Liga history in Real Madrid.
But on Saturday, June 23, those young footballers did get an opportunity to learn and hone their skills through the tutelage of the Real Madrid Foundation (RMF) coaches who partnered with YKK in holding a two-day clinic at the McKinley Hill Stadium, Taguig City.
Despite the scorching heat of the sun, kids from three different NGOs (Child Hope Asia, Gawad Kalinga, and Punta Fuego Village Foundation) absorbed footballing techniques and methodologies from RMF’s Pablo Gomez Revenga, Santiago Sanchez Martin, and Hector Vicente.
Local football coaches handpicked by the Philippine Football Federation (PFF) also helped in coaching and assisting the kids in playing the most popular sport in the world.
The kids definitely enjoyed the drills and of course playing football itself. And their parents, from the stands, had a great time seeing their sons and daughters putting it all on the field as well.
After the clinic, the kids received football gears from YKK and RMF while also getting their certificates of participation in the event. RMF coaches then named the MVPs of the clinic: Julie Ann Delloma, Rocio Nakpil and Kamilah Evangelista (all girls).
All participants, coaches, and YKK executives then gathered together for photo opportunities.
The second day of football clinics will take place on Sunday, June 24, still at the McKinley Hill Stadium.
Here are some photos on the first day of clinic:
