Manila, Philippines – University of Perpetual Help defeated Arellano University, 57-45 on Tuesday to snap a three-game losing skid in the NCAA Season 94 men’s basketball tournament at the Filoil Flying V Center in San Juan.
The Altas were hot on their heels in the second quarter as they limited the Chiefs to four points, making an 18-4 run for a comfortable 33-14 lead.
Perpetual held on to their lead, which ballooned to as much as 27 points in the third, and kept an impressive defensive play to deny the Chiefs from getting closer in the final minutes of the game to seal the deal.
Now standing on fifth place with a 6-5 slate, the Altas are now half a game behind College of St. Benilde.
Prince Eze once again filled in the stat sheets with a double-double record of 20 points and 19 rebounds on top of four blocks, while Rey Peralta had 10 points for the win.
Edgar Charcos came back from an injury and finished with six points, six boards, four assists and four steals.
On the other hand, Michael Canete was the lone double-digit scorer for Arellano with 15 points and 13 rebounds.
