Manila, Philippines – National University snapped a five-game losing skid after defeating University of the East, 88-61, to end their first round campaign in the UAAP Season 94 men’s basketball tournament on Saturday at the Mall of Asia Arena.
With the win, NU improved to a 2-5 record and left University of the East at the bottom of the standings with a 1-6 slate.
Shaun Ildefonso boosted the Bulldogs late in the first half that gave them a comfortable 22-point advantage, 50-28.
They never looked back from there and only stretched their lead by as much as 31 points, 81-54.
John Lloyd Clemente paved the way for the Bulldogs with his sweet shooting triples. He finished with 21 points off the bench, while Dave Ildefonso chipped in 14 markers, seven boards and six assists.
Issa Gaye and Shaun had 12 points apiece for the win.
On the other hand, Alvin Pasaol led the Red Warriors once again with 20 point and nine rebounds, while Chris Connor chipped in jis career-best 15 points in the losing effort.
