After an eight-month wait, the new season of the Philippine Football Federation Women’s League kicks off on July 27 with a double-header in Carmona, Cavite.

Ten teams are joining the third edition of the PFF tournament . Four teams are coming from the from the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) while the rest of the teams are amateur women’s football clubs

Two-time reigning champions La Salle, which has unbeaten run of 22 matches, will expect tough matches from the other nine participating teams this season.

Even with the graduation of Kyra Dimaandal and company, the Lady Archers still are the heavy favorites to win their third straight title. Malditas standouts Alisha del Campo will lead Lady Archers on their 8AM curtain-raiser against the Lady Fighting Maroons at the PFF National Training Center.

Capping off the Saturday twin-bill are last year’s runners-up UST, in which they will take on the Tigers FC at 10AM.

Returning for the second run, Tuloy Sa Don Bosco will still have the services of Isabella Bandoja, with the current Golden Boot holder looking to set the bar even higher after taking the league by storm last year after firing a record-breaking 24 goals.

Furthermore, a double-round robin format sees the league playing a total of matches in a “three points for a win” system, in which the champion with the most points gets the trophy.

Apart from the format, the league is also considering playing on the midweek away from Carmona to fit the entire fixtures into just three months, with the 2019 SEA Games looming on the horizon at the end of the year.
