NEW YORK, – The National Basketball Association (NBA) and the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) today announced a new, annual Basketball without Borders (BWB) Global Camp in conjunction with NBA All-Star. The inaugural camp will be held February 13-15 at Baruch College in Manhattan as part of NBA All-Star 2015 in New York City, and Nike will be the official partner.

Basketball without Borders, the NBA and FIBA’s global basketball development program, has reached more than 2,200 campers from 120 countries and territories, with 33 BWB campers drafted into the NBA.

The new camp will connect the top 40 players born in 1997 from Africa, the Americas, Asia/Pacific and Europe with select NBA, WNBA and FIBA players and coaches. The campers will work on positional skill drills, while engaging in shooting and skills competitions and 5-on-5 scrimmages. The campers will also attend the BBVA Compass Rising Stars Challenge and participate in additional All-Star activities.

As part of the league’s season long NBA Cares All-Star community efforts to reach half a million youth throughout the five boroughs with fun, fitness-related basketball activities, BWB Global campers will take part in the NBA FIT Celebration and work side by side with NBA, WNBA and FIBA players and legends to host basketball and fitness clinics throughout the five boroughs. The campers will also participate in a life skills seminar addressing essential health-related issues.

Nike, a BWB global partner since 2002, will outfit the campers and coaches with Nike apparel and footwear.

Since its inception in 2001, the NBA and FIBA have staged 39 BWB camps in 22 cities across 19 countries on five continents. More than 150 current and former NBA, WNBA and FIBA players have joined nearly 140 NBA team personnel from all 30 NBA teams to support BWB all over the world.
