CEBU CITY—Mandaue City clinched a championship seat in the Sixth District after it subdued the Consolacion Sarok Weavers, 76-65, in the 2019 Governor’s Cup Under-21 Inter-Cities/Municipalities Basketball Tournament last Sunday night, April 7, at the Consolacion Sports Complex.
Mandaue and Consolacion as well as Cordova all ended the elimination round with two wins and two losses.
But Mandaue and Consolacion went on to nab the district championship seats after emerging with superior quotients.
Mandaue finished with a quotient of 1.120, while Consolacion had 0.959, edging Cordova’s 0.935.
Aside from contending for the district crown and the P100,000 cash purse, Mandaue and Consolacion also advanced to the crossover quarterfinal round, which will begin on April 10.
Mandaue is grouped in Bracket A along with Dumanjug, Danao City, Medellin, Balamban, Argao and Samboan.
Consolacion will compete in Bracket B together with Tuburan, Sogod, Minglanilla, Alegria, Talisay City, Tabuelan and Consolacion.
Art Marco spearheaded Mandaue’s crucial victory after firing 14 points. He was backed by Kenneth Brillo and Paul Sungahid, who netted 13 and 11, respectively.
