Manila, Philippines – Colegio de San Juan de Letran banked on their veteran players to defeat Jose Rizal University anew, 89-79 on Friday in the NCAA Season 94 men’s basketball tournament at the Filoil Flying V Center in San Juan.
Nico Galvelo paved the way for Letran along with team captain Bong Quinto to claim another win for third place in the tournament with a 10-4 win-loss record.
They pulled away from fourth placer University of Perpetual Help (9-5) and now fifth placer College of St. Benilde (8-6).
However, they still have a long way to go before the Final Four berth as they will face No. 1 seed Lyceum of the Philippines University and the gritty College of San Sebastian-Recoletos next week.
Letran was all out in the game, exploding 35 points in the second quarter alone that gave them a big advantage coming into the second half. They never looked back since then.
