The UP Lady Maroons and DLSU Lady Spikers get back-to-back wins against the still-winless UE Lady Warriors and UST Lady Tigresses respectively, 25-16, 26-24, 25-19, and 25-23, 16-25, 25-14, 25-22, on Saturday afternoon, February 11 at the FilOil Flying-V Arena in San Juan.
UP still managed to get the first set convincingly despite not having reigning Rookie of the Year Isa Molde in the first six.
With UE putting up a strong defense, alongside couple of attack errors from the Diliman-based squad, UP found themselves down in the second set, 24-21. Just when UE was about to close out the set, Tots Carlos showed composure and scored three consecutive attacks as the Lady Warriors failed to protect their lead. UP never looked back and got the remaining set.
On the other hand,UST was able to steal a set from the defending champions with Rondina, Laure, Pacres, and Cortez all finishing with double-digit score.
La Salle quickly recovered from their first set loss this season and proved why there are the best blocking team in the UAAP, scoring a total 10 blocks against the 4 of the Lady Tigresses.
UP and La Salle are behind the NU Lady Bulldogs who have a 3-0 card and are still atop the standings. One team will inevitably get their first loss this season as they will go up against each other on February 15 to get solo second.
