The defending champions De La Salle University Lady Spikers reasserted mastery over last season’s runner-up Far Eastern University Lady Tamaraws in a straight-set win, 25-15, 25-19, 26-24, in the UAAP Season 81 women’s volleyball tournament, Saturday, at the FilOil Flying-V Arena in San Juan.

La Salle took the first two sets in a dominating fashion after holding down the output of the Lady Tamaraws below the 20-point mark.

The Lady Spikers continued to roll in the third set and established an early 8-2 advantage. With La Salle stretching the lead to 17-11, FEU slowly caught up with a 6-0 run to tie the game at 17-all.

Both squads went neck-and-neck for another crucial deadlock, 23-all. Rookie Lycha Ebon’s drop shot put the Lady Tamaraws at set point, but their own unforced errors killed their chances of extending the set.

Tin Tiamzon, who played in lieu of recovering team captain Desiree Cheng, delivered the goods with 13 points on 9 attacks, 1 block, and 3 service aces. May Luna and Jolina dela Cruz had 10 and 9 points apiece.

Lycha Ebon was the lone Lady Tamaraw who scored in double-digits with 10 markers, as Heather Guino-o’s output was limited to a single point.
