De La Salle University Lady Spikers extended their undefeated run after sweeping the Far Eastern University Lady Tamaraws, 25-16, 25-18, 25-21, in the UAAP Season 85 women’s volleyball tournament, Saturday, at the Philsports Arena.
The Lady Spikers displayed their well-orchestrated and balanced offense with four players scoring in double-digits.
Thea Gagate and Angel Canino led the La Salle attackers with 13 points apiece, with Leila Cruz and Jolina Cruz having 10 points each.
After establishing a 2-0 advantage with a dominant performance in the first two sets, FEU was able to get within striking distance, 21-22.
However, the Lady Tamaraws committed back-to-back crucial errors which paved the way for La Salle to fire an ace from the service line courtesy of Gagate.
It was the first match of Alleiah Malaluan, Justin Jazareno, and Angel Canino against their former head coach Tina Salak in De La Salle Zobel who now calls the shots for the Lady Tamaraws.
The Lady Spikers remain atop the standings with a 5-0 record. But the quest to an undefeated first round run will become more difficulty as they take on final four-seeking Adamson and defending champions NU.
