The De La Salle University Lady Spikers made quick work of the Adamson University Lady Falcons in just a three-set victory, 25-16, 25-21, 25-20, in the UAAP Season 81 women’s volleyball tournament on Saturday at the FilOil Flying-V Arena in San Juan.
After a statement win in their previous game, the defending champions continued their dominance and were in control all throughout the match against the Lady Falcons. La Salle mounted a lead in each set and maintained the advantage to close out the match.
Adamson came close in the second set, 21-22, after a 11-17 disadvantage but the Lady Spikers responded with a 4-0 run punctuated by an attack error from Trisha Genesis.
Rookie Jolina dela Cruz once again showcased her prowess as she led La Salle with 10 points and 18 excellent digs. Michelle Cobb orchestrated the offense of the Lady Spikers with 25 excellent sets.
On the other hand, Joy Dacoron and Bern Flora had 9 points apiece for Adamson.
Aside from being their second win, La Salle also avoided a repeat of Season 80’s first round loss against Adamson – one of the only two games the Lady Spikers dropped last year.
