Ginebra dominates 4th quarter to beat TNT, gets 2-1 lead

Barangay Ginebra Kings leaned on the triumvirate of Justine Brownlee, Jamie Malonzo and Stanley Pringle to flatten the TNT Tropang Giga, 117-103, in Game 3 of the 47th PBA Governors’ Cup Best-of-Seven Finals on Friday night, April 14, at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Brownlee, Malonzo and Pringle combined for 78 points as Ginebra bounced from its Game 2 debacle to take a 2-1 series lead.

The Kings won Game 1, 102-92, before the Tropa drew even with a 95-82 win in Game 2.

Pringle was extra hot from the field, making all of his seven attempts from the field, including six from the three-point area to finish with 22 points on top of three rebounds and three assists.

Brownlee rebounded from a lackluster 12-point showing in their Game 2 loss as he top scored for Ginebra with 29 points.

Malonzo also found his shooting touch and finished with 27 points.

Giving significant contributions for Ginebra were Scottie Thompson and Christian Standhardinger, who scored 16 points apiece.

The Kings jumped off to a quick start and posted a 10-point lead at the end of the first quarters, 29019. The Tropa found their bearings in the second quarter with Mikee Williams and Rondae Hollis-Jefferson delivering the goods that enabled them to knot the count at 57-all at halftime.

Ginebra recovered from the second quarter-meltdown by outscoring TNT in the third, 30-24, to bring an 87-81 advantage into the final canto.

After a productive third, Ginebra never put their foot off the gas pedal as they broke the game wide open with another 30-point output in the fourth.

Hollis-Jefferson paced the Tropa with 32 points, while Williams added 19.

Poy Erram and Jayson Castro contributed 14 each, while Pogoy had 13 for TNT.
