Gilas Pilipinas will be taking on familiar opponents in the group stage of the FIBA World Cup.
This after Gilas was drawn with Italy, Dominican Republic and Angola in Group A during the World Cup draw at the Araneta Coliseum on Saturday night, April 29.
Groups A and B matches will be played at the Araneta Coliseum, while the Mall of Asia Arena will be the venue for the Groups C and D games.
Gilas will start its campaign against Dominican Republic on August 25.
Gilas was with Italy and Angola in the same group in the previous World Cup in China four years ago.
The Filipinos are seeking redemption after they finished last in the China edition of the World Cup.
Group B has South Sudan, Serbia, China and Puerto Rico.
Group C is composed of the United States of America, Jordan, Greece, and New Zealand.
Bracketed in Group D are Egypt, Mexico, Montenegro and Lithuania.
Belonging to Group E are Germany, Finland, Australia, and Japan, while Group F has Slovenia, Cape Verde, Georgia, and Venezuela.
Group G has Iran, Spain, Côte d’Ivoire, and Brazil. Group H is composed of Canada, Latvia, Lebanon and France.
Groups E and F will be played in Okinawa, while Jakarta will host Groups g and H games.
