The Far Eastern University Lady Tamaraws escaped the Adamson University Lady Falcons in another classic five-set match, 30-32, 25-20, 23-25, 25-20, 15-13, for their fifth win in the UAAP Season 81 women’s volleyball tournament, Sunday, at the Ynares Sports Centre in Antipolo City, Rizal.

Facing a 1-2 deficit in the match, FEU had their backs against the wall as Adamson was slowly pulling away in the fourth set. But after the second technical timeout, the Lady Tamaraws went on a run to steal the lead at 17-16, then rallied past the Lady Falconsto force a decider.

Momentum stayed with the side of FEU in the fifth set after mounting an early 8-3 lead. But the Lady Falcons did not give up easily as after tying the game at 11, they forced another deadlock, 13-all.

Team captain Jerilli Malabanan put the Lady Tamaraws at match point, followed by a well-placed shot by Celine Domingo off the misreception of Adamson for the win.

It was a morale-boosting victory for FEU who lost both Net Villareal and rookie Lycha Ebon to injury during the match. Ebon still led all scorers with 19 points built on 16 attacks, 2 blocks, and a service ace. Senior Heather Guino-o was not far behind with 14 markers.

Eli Soyud, Chiara Permentilla, Joy Dacoron, and Bern Flora all had double-digit outputs for Adamson as they dropped to 1-7 win-loss record.
