In their second round face-off, the FEU Tamaraws was given a run for their money by the UP Fighting Maroons.

The Maroons played stellar basketball against an FEU squad that’s missing the services of head coach Nash Racela who’s currently in Spain with Gilas Pilipinas, and big man Russell Escoto who’s suffering minor injury.

With the game tied in the end of the first half, the Tamaraws and Maroons continued to go at each other on both ends. The intensity of the game went all the way to the last quarter but FEU started to pull-away with the lead in the final minutes.

Despite fouling out late in the 4th quarter, Mike Tolomia has been on top of the scoreboard with 19 points. Big guys Mac Belo and Anthony Hargrove followed with 14 and 11, respectively.

Hot-handed JR Gallarza led the Maroons with 18 points. Mikee Reyes also contributed with 14.

The Tamaraws now is on a comfortable lead in the #1 spot with an 9-2 record.

The scores:

FEU (75) – Tolomia 19, Belo 14, Hargrove 11, Inigo 8, Pogoy 7, Cruz 7, Lee Yu 5, Jose 4, Tamsi 0, Ugsang 0, Denila 0.

UP (69) – Gallarza 18, Reyes 14, Dario 10, Moralde 9, Juruena 8, Lao 4, Gingerich 3, Vito 3, Harris 0.
