ANTIPOLO – Far Eastern University is back on its winning ways as they won over the University of the East, 80-61 in the UAAP Season 81 men’s basketball tournament on Sunday at the Ynares Sports Center.
FEU came back to UE for revenge after a 90-65 loss in the first round, which was also the Red Warrior’s first and only win yet in the tournament.
With the win, FEU stopped their four consecutive losses and strengthened their hold to the Final Four bid as they moved to fourth spot with the University of the Philippines on a 6-6 win-loss record.
The Tamaraws was hot from the get-go and outscored UE, 21-13. They continued dominating the game and stretched the lead to 15 points for a 41-25 advantage at the half.
Alvin Pasaol led the Red Warriors run late in the third quarter, 12-3, to cut the lead to 10, 57-47.
However, FEU was such a strong force to beat with Axel Inigo and Arvin Tolentino scoring back-to-back triples.
Tolentino led the Tamaraws with 18 points, while Kenneth Tuffin shot five perfect three’s to finish with 17 markers. Barkley Ebona added a double-double record of 12 points and 16 rebounds in the win.
On the other hand, Alvin Pasaol was the only player to score on double-digits with 24 points and 12 rebounds as UE dropped to a 1-11 slate.
