The Far Eastern University Lady Tamaraws pulled off a massive win over the University of Sto. Tomas Golden Tigresses, 19-25, 25-19, 22-25, 25-20, 15-10, in the UAAP Season 86 women’s volleyball tournament, Saturday at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium in Manila City.
FEU now completed the Final Four cast this season, alongside La Salle, NU, and UST.
After overcoming a 1-2 deficit to force a fifth set, the Lady Tamaraws were in full control, breaking a 7-all deadlock before the teams switched sides.
Faida Bakanke and Jean Asis led the charge for FEU as they pulled away, 13-8. UST tried to adjust with some substitutions but with Final Four slot at stake, the Lady Tamaraws were able to successfully avenged their first round loss where they were reverse swept by the Golden Tigresses.
Alyssa Devosora came out clutch with a strong crosscourt attack to reach match point, followed by an unfortunate attack error from UST to complete the win.
Bakanke tallied team-high 21 points on 15 attacks, four kill blocks, and two service aces while Asis contributed 16 markers. Chen Tagaod and Gerz Petallo also combined for 16 points.
Meanwhile, returning Angge Poyos, who missed their last game due to dehydration, came back with 20 points as UST suffered their second loss this season.
