After dropping the opening set, the Far Eastern University Lady Tamaraws retaliated and dominated the Adamson University Lady Falcons, 23-25, 25-15, 25-13, 25-10, in the UAAP Season 87 women’s volleyball tournament, Saturday at the Mall of Asia Arena.
FEU struggled to contain Shaina Nitura and Frances Mordi in the first set, but after adjusting their rotation, the Lady Tamaraws found their groove as Adamson’s offensive plan became unpredictable.
In the fourth set, FEU doubled up on the Lady Falcons, 16-8, before making a 9-2 run to finish the match.
Faida Bakanke and Chenie Tagaod scored consecutive attacks to extend their lead, followed by an attack from Mordi that went outside that sealed the match for FEU.
The Lady Tamaraws were led by Gerz Petallo who finished the match with 16 points to go with 15 excellent receptions. Jean Asis added 14 while Bakanke chipped in 13.
Nitura was the lone bright spot for Adamson with 24 points as the rest of the Lady Falcons only matched her score.
FEU clinched their third straight victory for a 4-2 record while Adamson suffered their third loss.
