The Far Eastern University Lady Tamaraws were tested anew by the University of the East Lady Warriors after hacking out another five-set victory, 25-15, 16-25, 12-25, 25-22, 17-15, in the UAAP Season 81 women’s volleyball tournament, Saturday, at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.

Following a quick first set win, moments of inconsistencies haunted FEU in the next two sets as they suddenly collapsed and faced a 1-2 deficit in the match.

With their backs against the wall, the Lady Tamaraws adjusted in the must-win fourth set as after the 16-all deadlock, they slowly pulled away and maintained the lead until the latter part of the frame. UE delayed FEU momentarily after saving two match points, but a miscommunication error from the Lady Warriors forced a deciding set.

FEU continued to roll in the fifth set but not without a scare from UE who sparked a late run to overcome a 11-14 disadvantage with four consecutive points and to snatch match point.

However, the Lady Tamaraws got another chance after a crucial service error from the Lady Warriors that paved the way for JerriliMalabanan to finish the match with back-to-back attacks.

Ivana Agudoemerged as the top scorer for FEU with 12 points who played in lieu of rookie Lycha Ebon who had to sit out in this match because of a knee injury. Seniors Heather Guino-o, JerriliMalabanan, and Ced Domingo had 11 points apiece.

Me-an Mendrez led the way for UE with 22 markers who suffered their seventh loss in ten games this season.
