The Far Eastern University Lady Tamaraws displayed dominance in their straight sets win over the University of the Philippines Lady Maroons in UAAP Women’s Volleyball, 25-23, 25-12, 25-19, Saturday at FilOil Flying-V Arena in San Juan City.

FEU stunned UP in the latter part of the first set with a 7-1 run. The Lady Maroons had a 22-17 advantage, but the loaded serves of Celine Domingo punished the reception of UP. With Bernadette Pons in the backline, Heather Guinoo and Chin Basas stepped up and took over in offense and defense, concluded by a block on Isa Molde at the net to complete the comeback.

The Lady Tamaraws continued their momentum in the second set, holding UP to just 12-point output.

UP tried to retaliate in the next set as they inched closer to the lead of FEU, 16-18. But the Lady Tamaraws did not want another extended game and finished the game in three sets.

It was Heather Guino-o who stepped up and topscored for FEU with 11 points. Bernadette Pons and Chin Basas added 9 and 10 markers, respectively.

Tots Carlos did everything for UP with 15 points off 14 attacks and 1 block, 10 excellent digs, and 8 excellent receptions.

It is a rollercoaster ride so far for the Lady Tamaraws this season: winning their first game against Ateneo, then losing to Adamson and La Salle, and ending their two-game losing skid over UP for a 2-2 win-loss record.

Player of the Game: Heather Guino-o, 11 points (7 attacks, 2 blocks, 2 service aces)
