The Far Eastern University Lady Tamaraws ended their two-game losing streak after taking down the University of Sto. Tomas Lady Tigresses in four sets, 19-25, 25-20, 25-19, 27-25, in the UAAP Season 80 women’s volleyball tournament on Saturday at the Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City.

After coming up short in the opening set, FEU found their groove back in the second frame to keep their pace with the Lady Tigresses. However, UST suffered an unfortunate setback as Milena Alessandrini injured her knee after a bad landing. The Lady Tamaraws then escaped to equalize the match with one set apiece.

FEU continued their momentum in the third set, all praises to the rookies Lycha Ebon and France Ronquillo who both delivered the goods for a 2-1 lead in the match.

The Lady Tamaraws were already two points away from winning the game, 23-19, until UST staged a comeback as they dragged FEU into an extended set. Last season’s runner-up still prevailed after an attack error from Eya Laure.

Celine Domingo was all over the statistics with 17 points on 13 attacks, 6 kill blocks, and 2 service aces. Heather Guino-o and Lycha Ebon added 14 and 11 points, respectively.

Eya Laure led all scorers with 20 points while Sisi Rondina had a triple-double with 15 attacks, 15 excellent digs, and 12 excellent receptions.
