Eustaquio picks Moraes to win over Johnson at ONE 161

By Jun Ray Navarres

After meeting each other for three times inside the Circle, no one knows ONE Flyweight Champion Adriano Moraes better than Team Lakay Geje Eustaquio.

The Former ONE Flyweight Champion is very familiar with Moraes’ prowess and capabilities when locked inside the cage.

And on August 16 at ONE 161, Eustaquio is confident that “Mikinho” can once again stop Demetrious Johnson in his tracks.

“Adriano, you have to remember that when all of them doubted you to win against DJ, you proved them all wrong by giving him his first career KO. You have to stay on that mentality and I wish you a safe and healthy competition,” said the Igorot Warrior.

The two elite warriors first met back in April 2021 where Moraes finished the night with a knee to the grounded Johnson to retain the golden plated strap. In their upcoming rematch, sparks will surely fly.

“I expect fireworks from both warriors. Both of them are fire-tested and both of them are legends. I expect nothing but a full display of mixed martial arts,” said Eustaquio.

The team Lakay stalwart also has some tips for Moraes.

“Adriano needs to be unpredictable in order to retain the title, he has to move constantly because DJ is very crafty in playing the game. Adriano has all the tools and had them all tested before,” shared Eustaquio.

“Win or lose brother, you have proved more than enough to this sport. I am proud of being part of your journey. I wish you luck.”

Also, for Eustaquio, three is not enough and he wants to meet the Brazilian kingpin again when he successfully defends his title.

“If you are still the champion of our division then, there’s no escape brother. We will soon meet again. I’ll keep racking up victories and gamble on the title shot one more time,” he said. “God bless, brother.”
