Emilio Aguinaldo College finally broke a fifteen-year losing streak to San Beda, pulling away in the third quarter for a 68-55 win in the NCAA Season 100 men’s basketball action at the FilOil-EcoOil Centre on Tuesday.
For the first time in school history, the Generals scored their maiden win spectacularly at the expense of the Red Lions, ending a 27-game losing skid since joining the league in 2009.
Guard Harvey Pagsanjan led all scorers with 14 points for EAC, adding seven rebounds and a steal to his line. Forward JC Luciano contributed 13 points and 8 rebounds, displaying his immaculate outside sniping with a perfect 4/4 from beyond the arc.
The Generals were relentless in their ambush of the Red Lions on both ends of the floor and were even led by as much as 29 with 2:42 left in the third quarter after Paolo Bagay’s layup, 58-29.
Yukien Andrada led the titleholders with 12 points, in which their 30-5 fourth quarter proved to be a belated consolation.
