Finally! After a long time, the UP Fighting Maroons has won a game in the UAAP!

The boys of Diliman destroyed the Adamson Soaring Falcons in a 77-64 win.

With the Maroons dominating both defensively and offensively, the Falcons seemed to have a hard time getting the ball through the hoop for points. UP were forcing turnovers which most of the time converts to a basket on the other end.

Even though both teams have struggled in the opening minutes, UP has been leading throughout the game. Thanks to the heroics of the streaking JR Gallarza who had 24 points, and the hot-shooting Mikee Reyes who had 28 big points.

Adamson on the other hand made a late-game run led by Jansen Rios and Don Trollano who had 20 and 24 points respectively. Their scrappy defense made UP turn the ball over a couple of times and got them some easy baskets. The lead was even cut down to as low as 9 points with under a minute left in the game, but it wasn’t enough to get the win.

This is UP’s first win in the last 2 years with their last victory dating back last August 19, 2012 when the defeated the UE Red Warriors 63-48 in UAAP 75.

The scores:

UP (77) – Reyes 28, Gallarza 24, Lao 10, Juruena 4, Asilum 4, Gingerich 2, Moralde 2, Lim 2, Amar 1, Vito 0, Harris 0.
