Converge bounces back to beat San Miguel

Converge FiberXers bounced back from a previous loss in a big way, taking down the erstwhile unbeaten San Miguel Beermen, 107-103, in the main game of the 47th PBA Governors’ Cup on Saturday night, Feb. 11, at the MOA Arena.

Prolific import Jamaal Franklin led the way for Converge with 37 points, nine rebounds and seven assists as the FiberXers rebounded from a 122-128 loss to the TNT Tropang Giga last Wednesday.

Maverick Ahanmisi added 15 points, Alec Stockton pitched in 14, while Jerrick Balanza donated 11 for Converge, which tied its victim’s slate at 5-1 (win-loss).

Converge was steady in the entire 48-minute skirmish as it led at the end of every quarter en route to upsetting the powerhouse Beermen.

Cameron Clark finished with a game-high 30 points, CJ Perez had 28 and Jericho Cruz tallied 14.

June Mar Fajardo scored just seven points and fouled out in the crucial minutes of the game.

In the first game, TNT pocketed a third straight victory by dumping the Terrafirma Dyip, 131-109.

After scoring 56 points against Converge, Jalen Hudson came up with another hot-shooting night as he powered the Tropa with 36 points.

Hudson went 12-for-15 from the field in a superb display of accurate sniping that helped the Tropa snatch their fifth win in six matches.

Mikey Williams backed Hudson with 26 points, while RR Pogoy and Calvin Oftana delivered 16 and 15, respectively.

Jordan Williams had his own high-scoring outing with 38 points but Terrafirma still stumbled to their third loss in five outings.
