CEBU CITY—The Consolacion Sarok Weavers and the Minglanilla Archangels pocketed their second straight victories by beating separate opponents on Friday night, April 12, in the crossover quarterfinal round of the 2019 Governor’s Cup Under-21 Inter-Cities/Municipalities Basketball Tournament.
The Sarok Weavers took out Alegria, 77-67, while Minglanilla carved out a tight 73-72 win over Sogod.
The victors now share the number one spot in the Bracket B standings with identical 2-0 (win-loss) records.
John Dalumpines and Keith Padoyogdog each fired 14 points to lead Consolacion, which followed up its 98-79 win over Sogod at the start of the quarterfinal phase.
Alegria continued to struggle in the quarters as it fell to 0-2.
On the other hand, Minglanilla, the league’s inaugural champion, overcame a seven-point deficit in the fourth quarter to keep its own clean slate intact.
Lyle Eredera paced the Archangels with 18 makers, while King Cabansay pitched in 10.
Sogod remained winless after two games in the quarters.
