Caracut, Baltazar power La Salle in bounce back win over Adamson

ANTIPOLO – Andrei Caracut shot crucial baskets in the endgame to help De La Salle University win over Adamson University, 68-61, Saturday in the UAAP Season 82 men’s basketball tournament at Ynares Center in Antipolo. 

Caracut knocked down back-to-back triples in the last two minutes for a 10-3 run that helped La Salle go back to the win column as they improved to a 2-3 win-loss record. 

The graduating guard had two treys followed by a split on the free throw line, while Aljun Melecio capped off their victory with three points of his own. 

“When you have a 1-3 standing, you get uncomfortable. Yun yung nag-test sa amin sa first four games and we just have to stick together,” said La Salle head coach Gian Nazario post-game. 

Caracut and Melecio combined for 19 points, with the latter adding seven rebounds and two assists in his name. 

Justin Baltazar also had a stellar performance with a double-double record of 21 markers and 14 boards, to go along with two assists and two blocks. 

Adamson, on the other hand, had Jerrick Ahanmisi and Val Chauca on the front line with 13 points each as they dropped to a 3-3 slate.
