The Ateneo de Manila University Lady Eagles extended their winning streak as they swept the University of the East Lady Warriors in their first straight-set win, 25-15, 25-21, 25-16, in the UAAP Season 81 women’s volleyball tournament, Sunday, at the Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City.
Ateneo convincingly won the match, except for the second set where UE showed signs of life after trimming down the lead to just two points, 20-22. But the presence of Bea de Leon and Kat Tolentino at the net provided the necessary push to close out the set.
Seniors Maddie Madayag and Kat Tolentino continued to emerge as the leading scorers for Ateneo with 13 and 11 points, respectively. Madayag and Tolentino also combined for six kill blocks.
The Lady Eagles tallied their third straight win this season and are tied at the number one spot with La Salle and UP with 3-1 win-loss record.
Judith Abilled the Lady Warriors with 14 points who suffered another loss after tallying their first win in their previous game.
