Manila, Philippines – Ateneo De Manila University extendes their winning streak at the expense of the University of Santo Tomas, 85-53, Saturday in the UAAP Season 81 men’s basketball tournament at the Filoil Flying V Center in San Juan.
Now with a 4-1 win-loss record in the tournament, Ateneo takes solo second behind the undefeated Adamson University (5-0).
Angelo Kouame led the Blue Eagles as he initiated a sweet-shooting game plan from the get go that gave them a 9-point cushion to end the first quarter, 19-10.
But what left the Tigers breathing for air was the 8-18 rally that turned into 18-37 coming into the second half. Ateneo’s lead even stretched to 27 points after SJ Belangel shot beyond the arc.
Kouame paved the way for the Blue Eagles with a double-double of 20 points and 15 rebounds along with four blocks, while Thirdy Ravena finished with 11 markers.
Isaac Go knocked down eight points and 11 rebounds and Anton Asistio added another eight for the win.
On the other hand, Renzo Subido had 19 points and four rebounds, while rookie CJ Cansino added a double-double of 15 markers and 10 boards as the Tigers dropped to a 1-3 slate tied with National University and University of the Philippines at fifth place.
